There’s never a “perfect” time to step away. But there is a right time to stop sacrificing your life for your work

There’s Never a “Perfect” Time—But There’s Always a ✨Right Time✨…

Three months into this new chapter with Catalais Consulting Ltd., I’m incredibly grateful for the conversations I’ve had with leaders and organizations committed to meaningful change. These discussions reaffirm why I made the leap from corporate finance—to build something with intention, balance, and impact.

But this journey isn’t just about the work. It’s about choosing to live differently.

The world around us feels like it’s constantly unraveling—economic uncertainty, shifting markets, global crises. There’s never a “perfect” time to step away. But if we’ve learned anything from the last few years, it’s that life is far too short to wait.

In 2020, Daniel MacMillan battled incurable cancer. In 2021, I was diagnosed with an Alzheimer’s-related neurodegenerative disease, which at times left me with seizures, memory and word loss, and a blood pressure of 185/135. These experiences profoundly reshaped our understanding of time, priorities, and what it means to truly live. We can’t pour into others if our own cup is empty.

So, we pressed pause. We took time for each other. We spent days resting and reconnecting in beautiful Riviera Cancun. Not because the world slowed down for us, but because we chose to make space for what truly matters.

As I continue to build, I’m committed to ensuring that my work doesn’t come at the cost of my well-being or my family. And I encourage everyone to do the same—because success isn’t just about what we achieve, it’s about how we live.
